New Tampa Family Fun in January
The holidays have come and gone, leaving behind wonderful memories, but also some winter time blues. Luckily, we live in New Tampa with sunshine filled days and plenty of activities for the whole family.
Here are a few New Tampa Family Fun things happening around the area:
January 6th marked the first day of Girl Scout Cookie Sales!
Help your favorite Girl Scout celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Girl Scouts! Each box of cookies is $3.50 and proceeds go to helping each troop with projects and trips. If your new year’s resolution is to eat healthier, buy a box for a serviceman/woman serving overseas with the Cookies from Home program. Our soldiers enjoy a “treat from home” and look forward to the boxes of Girl Scout cookies arriving.
January 9th kicks off the FREE Preschool Pass for Busch Gardens/Sea World program. Children 5 years and younger get in free all year to enjoy all of the fun. Visit www.seaworldorlando.com or www.buschgardenstampabay.com to get your Preschool Pass!
January 14-16th The Festival of Chocolate
Sample all things chocolate at MOSI, 4801 E. Fowler Avenue. This is one of Florida’s largest chocolate themed events. There is shopping, sampling and educational experiences for all ages. Free with a MOSI admission.
January 21st is the McDonald’s Children’s Gasparilla Parade
Dress up your favorite swashbucklers and head out to Tampa’s beautiful Bayshore Blvd. to enjoy all of the festivities. Some of the day’s events include a bicycle and pedestrian safety rodeo, preschooler’s stroll, an air invasion, the children’s parade and fireworks! An annual trip to the TECO Electric Plant is always a crowd pleaser. There are lots of manatees and other sea creatures enjoying the warmer waters around the plant. Children will enjoy the interactive exhibits and everyone enjoys seeing a sea cow. There was even a baby manatee this year! A few small sharks were spotted on our last visit. The electric plant is located in Apollo Beach just off of I75. This is free to the community.
Look for upcoming events in February.
